If anyone is in need of Illusion X tower bushings Xtreme Marine outside of Little Rock AR had some made. They are a little long and have to be cut to length. I got set and cut them in about 5 minutes...$10 for the pair. Tower is rock solid now. Give them a call if you need them 501-392-0315. http://www.extrememarineinc.com

Any dealer can get them. It's been a long time coming but they've only been available for a few months. I worked w/ Malibu to get them available somewhat selfishly since I needed them.;)

I have the Illusion X tower that doesn't have the quick pin release. It has an allen bolt on each side of the tower. I have to take this bolt out to lower the tower which is a major pain in the a** cause I can't hold the tower up and take the bolt out at the same time. As a result, I never put the tower down. Luckily I don't have too right now, but I'm moving to a house where I don't have an overheight garage. So I will have to lower the tower to get the boat in the garage(the new garage space has an 8' high door). My question is:

1) Can my tower allen bolts be changed out for the quick release pin that Bakes sells?

2) What causes the bushings to wear out? Is it constantly putting the tower up and down or is it just normal use from towing wakeboarders?

If your tower base has not been modified or alterned you should be able to use the quick release pin after replacing the bushings. The bushings wear out because they are a hard plastic material, I call them the sacraficial part of the tower. It's better than aluminum rubbing on aluminum. Bakes also sells the replacement bushings for your tower.
