What are the differences between the 2011 vlx and the 2012?

Minor Diferences.

-Keyed Back up in case the MTC won't start the boat.

-Fuel Cap has changed

-Ballast Pump and Line Upgrades

-Auto Pull up feature. Remembers how you liked to be pulled up

-New Agressive Graphic Option.

I think there is also a new GPS speed control available, not sure if its standard, but I think Ththrog ordered it for his MXZ... has given it excellent reviews so far.

As far as the keyed back up goes could you use it as your primary way of starting the boat. I have a feeling it is going to get anoying hunting for the touch screen numbers every time.

As long as you don't turn off the batteries you don't have to reenter the code every time to restart the engine just push start engine. I noticed they installed a handle for the observers seat that I don't have on my 2011.

IMHO, its pretty easy to start, even easier to shut off and you can just hit the "power button"
