2012 22 MXZ System Install

The NC boats shows are over and it's time to start hitting the water on 60+ degree days...starting tomorrow. I want share what was done in our 2012 MXZ for stereo this year. I enjoy seeing all the creativity you guys do with your boats, whatever brand of equipment you choose. I don't process those skills like many, so I've leaned on Mike's Liquid Audio again this year to outfit our promo boat. I really appreciate Malibu for working with us to not have the 8" speakers cutouts done at the factory, just sound pack 1.

Here are the system details and some shots that I took at the show:

3 pairs of KM6200 - new charcoal grills on all speakers.

One pair of KM62502 components in the walk-thru pockets.

Kicker L3-12"sub in a custom ported enclosure under the helm receiving 500 watts.

Kicker KM6500.2 "6-Pack" system in Kickers new tower pods powered by a pair of IX500.4 amps and 1000 watts RMS to the tower.

Zone control using the ZXM-RLC. With using the Kicker sub level controller interfaced with the IX1000.5, there are 3 zones: in-boat, tower and sub.

Honestly, we rarely surf and I think the 750's in the rear will be sufficient for us when we do. The amp rack does not take up the full width of the compartment, I can fit my bumpers there or lead pop bags if we get more serious about surfing. The amp rack or sub enclose were installed without any modifications to the boat, so it can always go back stock.

Gotcha. Any more pics of the sub? Any pics of the zone controls?

I'll have to get some some of the zone controllers, they are just under the helm beneath the MTC screen. MLA also added a Blue Sea ACR, on-board charger, and ballast puppies for the rear sacs. Here are a few more shots of the sub, I believe it's 1.75 cf and ported up front just under the sub itself.

Ok, here's a picture of the switches - Blue LED's are on their own switch separate from factory interior lights (left side of helm under the HU remote). The head unit is also switched, so it can be turned on with out powering up. The zone controller are in easy reach while at the helm and positioned on the right just under the MTC screen: tower, in-boats, sub L to R as pictured.

Thtrog: Beautiful looking setup. Question on the 6 pack Kicker KM 6500.2's how did you decide in what order you would install them on the tower? Do you have a measurement for how much room this 6 pack setup takes up on the tower? How is the sound 80 ft. back and the sound surfing? Thanks for any info you can provide.
