Engine Question

Recommended Posts

C28

As I was warming up the engine with the fake a lake I saw this on the ground so I cought some in a glass container and I am stumped as to what it is. I think it may be electrolisis from the aluminum heads and the iron block? Has anyone seen this? They are soft?

2007 HH with 400 fresh water only hours.

Either a bit of corrosion or some sand.

This is a sample of the exhaust water? Or, just the ground around where the exhaust water hit?

It was straight out of the exhaust. Both sides were the same. The concrete was clean before I started the engine. I noticed the white specks on the ground and turned off the engine. After trying to find out where it came from I started up the engine again and caught it in a clean glass container. And got the same white specks. I have never seen it before and then thought about the water flowing through the Aluminum heads and iron block water jackets.

Any Ideas?

How long was the boat laid up before you started it? If it's been winterized for a while it could be that some areas finally dried up leaving lime or calcium deposits then they shook loose with the new water flow.

We ride year round so it had only been 10 days since we were at the lake last. it is a lake with no weeds or tree around it.

Do you get a lot of water spots on the boat? Could be mineral deposits coming loose, and yes they will build up without any drying.
