What Barefoot Boom To Use For A V Drive?

We have a boom on our 01 SS, but it's a DD. Our 08 is the first v drive we have owned. What boom do we use, and where does it go? Does anyone have pics of a barefoot boom on a v drive?

Thanks

Peter of Smooth Water Sports is finalizing the design of a boom that mounts to a G3 Tower and keeps the rider away from the spray. May not be suitable for your tower but do search on Barefoot Boom & G3 Tower or contact Peter.

Illusion x

We just got a Barefoot International boom for our 2006 V-Ride. It attaches to the pylon in the rear and then goes just in front of the Illusion X tower. Also got a height adjuster. Have not tested it out yet, but hope to do so in the next two weeks if this unusually warm weather holds. I tried to find a boom that attaches to the tower directly but could not locate one.

PS-let me know if you want any info on the boom and such. Installation is easy but due to the pylon being short, it does compress a portion of the interior upholstery a bit. I bought it from Lane Bowers at thefootersedge.com. He is really good to deal with.

You can still get into both storage bins in the back and the side storage while the boom is mounted. All parts of the boom fit nicely in side storage when not mounted. I also got a boom extension to get it out of the spray. I'll try to send a pic when I get a chance.

This is my question and the reply to Peter of Smooth Mountain Sports:

Sorry Mark, the Illusion is cast aluminum, and therefore prone to cracks and breaks with any side loads. We can not install and load supporting brackets on any of the Illusion series by Metcraft. (No longer in business)

Have you guys seen a boom connection for a 2006 V-Ride with an Illusion X

tower like the one on your video for the G3?

Thanks,

Mark

When I was considering a Barefoot International Boom from Lane (prior to Peter's project), I was advised by Lane that a longer after-market pylon was available.

Lol! I'm going to have to start up an offshoot of Smooth _Water_ Sports, for the winter clientele I guess!

Sorry I don't have much options beyond the BI quad V boom for the V-drives with an Illusion X or XS on them. But if you want a Quad-V let us know.

Thanks,

Peter

not to hijack this thread, but... I am also looking for a boom for a v drive. I have an 01 ssvlx with skylon swoop tower would I also be better off using vdrive boom or is there a tower boom available?

thanks
