Led Ideas?

Looking for some Led lighting ideas for the new VTX? My first boat I used all blue Leds and my 09 VTX I used all white. I was thinking of going with a combo of blue and white...what do you think?

Blue in the exterior vents, blue in the cup holders and blue behind the speaker grills as well as the the Malibu emblem. I would keep the stock white and add a white leds around the seat bases.

Think this would look good? Any other suggestions?

Here is a link to my 89 Sunsetter Leds (Blue)

and my 09 VTX Led's (White)

i'd go with blue with orange accents. that would look great at night.

well actually; personally, i'd get rgb lights with the ability to change at will. maybe set up a controller for the primary leds and the a second controller (or two) for all your accent leds. that way you can change it to your preference or mood.

I would probably do all blue, but that's just me.

Where did you get your LED's? Wife saw a MXZ at the boat show with a bunch of extra LED's, and guess what she wants on our boat.

Check out superbrightleds.com and oznium .com

So here is what I am thinking..

Front Vents

1 Red, 1 Green Flexible Led strip 19" http://www.oznium.com/flexible-led-marine-strips

Rear Vents

2 White Flexible Led strip 19" http://www.oznium.com/flexible-led-marine-strips

Behind Speaker Grills

Prewired Surface Mount Led - Blue http://www.oznium.com/marine-boat-led-deck-running-light

Cup holders

Prewired Surface Mount Led - Blue http://www.oznium.com/marine-boat-led-deck-running-light

BU Emblem

Flexible Led strip 9.5"- Blue http://www.oznium.com/flexible-led-marine-strips

Helm

Flexible Led strip 19" - White http://www.oznium.com/flexible-led-marine-strips

Under seat

2 Flexible Led Strip 6' - White http://www.oznium.com/flexible-led-marine-strips

-I am not sure on the 2 - 6ft sections for under the seats. On my prior boat I used 3 of these http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=868 and these http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=859 but they were a bit of a challenge as I had to run wires to each where as the strip will be one continuous strip. I do however want the light shining downwards. Not sure if this will be possible? Any other ideas?

I went with a full setup from Oznium and couldn't be happier. I used the 6" sections under my side seats and a 19" section under the middle seat in the back. For my vents I used 5 superflux LEDs(each vent). However, if I had to do it again, I would definitely use strips. Also, I picked up some metallic spray paint from lowes that made the vents shine much brighter. Here's a couple pics.

The vents on the interior pic dont look very bright because I positioned the superflux leds in a poor position. Once I got them moved it was much better.

After the move and metallic spray paint.

Did you use a silver metallic spray?

If you could do the interior over would you go with one long strip or keep it as it is?

It was a thought. Red/ Green for the front and White for the rear..would double as Navy Lights...

i wonder if you would get fined for doing something like that since it's not a cga product.

i still vote for the rgb lights so you aren't tied down to any one style. those 4 chan controllers would give you a lot of flexibility over your design.

RGB is the way to fly for sure. I spent last night at my buddies place. He got a contact for a sign in Disney. I am working on the software to control it. I can't wait for spring....the new digital LED's he's got now are going to make for a fun trailer lighting project. Rockon.gif

Yeah, silver metallic. Thought about doing a "chrome" spray but I doubt it would have looked any better. I would keep my setup as is just for the ease and price of replacement if something happened to a section of the strip. It's really personal preference though.

The strips you used under your seats are they firing towards the ground? My concern with the strips is there is no lip on my under my seats so they will fire straight now downwards. The previous lights I used fire down for a clean look. Do you have any picks of these lights?

These strips are firing straight out. I agree its not the best looking way of doing it but IMO with these particular strips, firing them straight down isnt going to give it much of a better/more shallow look. I'll get some better pics inside the boat tomorrow evening so you can see what you might be working with. Oznium does have a slimmer weatherproof ribbon that would probably be better since you dont have a lip for concealment.
