that could be said even with cd's

listen to some 80's cds/alubms (dire straits, van halen, police, peter gabriel, etc...) compared to the mainstream stuff thats put out today. it's sickening

I re-ripped my cd collection last summer into apple lossless. The difference between lossless and 128kps is appreciable. To my tin ear, I cannot reliably pick the "better" file over 192kps. In other words at lossless vs 192kps its a tossup for me.

yeah, i have all myself at 320kps but once you hit 192 it's very hard to hear the difference imho. on a boat.... i doubt anyone could hear the difference.
