Has anyone used this for their jbl black box? Anyone know the length of the cord or if it actually works with the black box that came in my '08? Wouldnt sound quality be better then using the aux?

I've got one and it's about 6-8' long. Don't think it will work with your black box but you'll need to double check that, I have the latest JBL box in my boat from 2010 and it's different that the one that came in my boat in 09'. I'd be willing to bet anything you wouldn't hear the difference in sound quality between the two.

If you can't find the iPod cord for the black box you could get a lineout dock adapter for your iPod/iPhone and run that into the aux input. It should sound the same as the black box dock connector although you would not be able to control the iPod via the stereo controls in the boat.

If you do a Google search for JBL Black Box iPod Connector you will get a lot of options for different cords.

Yea thats what I have now, down side is that it wont charge the iphone, forget where I heard it but someone said that connecting to the usb or the actual connection on the ipod/iphone gives you better sound quality then the head phone jack.

Maybe so but noticing the difference between the two is nearly impossible at best. If its purely a sound quality decision either will work for you. I don't think you can use the 830 plug for your jbl unit anyways.
