Removing The Radio 2005 I-Ride

I have a 2005 I-ride. The radio keeps locking up so I bought a new Sony radio. I hoped the new Sony radio would hook up the same as the old Sony radio. The old radio wont slide out because there is a bracket screwed to the back of the radio then above the radio. I'm not sure how to get the bar off. It looks like I need to remove the whole panel or go thru where the shifter is screwed on. Is there any way to get the driver side seat out of the way. Thanks

Did you try the radio slider rails? Basically the head unit is in a frame And you slide in two metal rails that unlock some small tabs and the head unit should slide out.

Even with the slide rails, it won't come out if it's like my 2006.

You are correct there is a metal bar that is screwed to the back of the radio. However, this bar was not attached to anything on the boat, rather it just kind of "stuck up" to keep the radio from being pulled out.

You can reach the back of the radio and bar by reaching your arm through the Gunnel towards the radio. You should be able to feel the bar. I just grabbed the bar and was able to spin it from being vertical to horizontal. At that point I could pull the radio out until the bar hit the back. When this happened I could rotate the radio enough to remove the screw and the bar.

Hope this helps.
