Entry Level 12" Subs

Finally got some pic's added to boat house mod section of the finished install. It's very nice having the boat in the garage all winter to tinker at my leisure. This was my first install so may not be up to par with some of the professional ones, but thanks to all the great info on this site I am very happy with the results.

I built it for the small size and the awesome frequency response and tight bass. My box is 1 cu ft inside volume. With a 87' Sunsetter DD you know as well as I do you don't have a ton of space under the wheel to hide a sub enclosure, Perfect pass, and a Pelican box of electronics for my GPS Speedo.

Here's the WinISD plot for my sub and passive radiator.....I was blown away by how flat the frequency response is. This means no matter what the note the sub plays it at the same volume. It makes it very musical and isn't a sub that has a favorite note it hits well and the others are "weaker". It also likes the kick drum...nothing like a kick drum that is nice, tight, and responsive.

There is no question your sub (TC3000) can really pound. But I have to say your response looks nothing like the plot above. There is a flaw in the model. It must be missing the Le parameter as the TC3000 voice coil was known to have a massive amount of inductance. That will act as a low pass filter on the sub so that nice flat response above 60 or so Hz isn't happening.. It's really dropping. The graph should look more like a big hump with a peak around 30Hz. Toss in the low pass crossover that I'm sure you have in place and it's moreso. If you track down the actual Le number you can model it in winisd.. and also toss the simulated crossover filter in to see the true response. But like I said no question you have a powerful solution on hand there.. just don't fall into the winisd trap unless you have the whole story.
