Looking For A Vacation Rental On A Lake Near Peterborough Canada

We are looking for a 1 week vacation rental in August. We want to rent a house on a lake where we can ski, wakeboard, and surf. We are thinking of somewhere around Peterborough Canada (I camped in that area as a kid and loved it and it looks like there are a number of narrow lakes around there.

Any info on Buckhorn Lake or the ones which connect to it?

Buckhorn Lake is part of the Trent Severn waterway, which means that you can go from lake to lake and travel all the way to Lake Huron if you wanted to (through a variety of locks). Most of the lakes in that region are decent. I believe Stoney Lake is probably the preferred lake in the region....but I can't really say why. Some of the lakes can be a bit shallow and weedy (like Pigeon Lake).

Below are some links that might help:

We have family in Peterborough and Buckhorn..lots of lakes around and lots of weeds. I was asking my uncle and you have to pick and choose as a lot are not great for anything more than a cruiz.

Thanks for asking your uncle. No substitute for information from someone who is there.

We are looking at a rental on Upper Buckhorn Lake. Any idea how that lake is for skiing etc?

Also wondering how rough the lake gets?

I guess you definately want Upper Buckhorn Lake. Lower Buckhorn is just flooded farmland so its shallow and full of weeds. There are places to stay. I will get you more specifics shortly.
