Fin Through The Engine Cover

Recommended Posts

just wondering if there's anyone on the crew with some experience repairing vinyl tears - my kids dropped a wakeboard and the fin punctured the vinyl on the engine cover...

any experience with those diy kits from auto supply stores?

Those kits are about impossible to match unless the color is black or white. Best option would be to see if Chee can make you a new skin. Next best option would be a pro vinyl repair guy. Next would be to use a product called VLP just to prevent it getting bigger. Last would be the diy kit. I'm2c.

Check out Colorglo.com. I have used Ryan Freeborn before and he did an awesome job on vinyl repairs.

My son put a kneeboard through the bow seat vinyl. The repair was hard to spot, even when I knew where to look, and it didn't discolor after several years.

I used the diy kits on some small cuts the color match is hard but doable if you take your time and work with it. The repaired/patched areas do have more of a mildo problem than the other areas. Also these were small areas, I dont know how it would do on a large area, or on one that is in a high use area.

Good luck.

as usual- thanks, I'll check out all the options. NDawg12 - who is Chee?

He is the guy that used to do the vinyl work for Malibu, not sure if he still does. Run a search on "vinyl chee" and you'll find his contact info.
