Kicker L5 on sub amp, low pass 100HZ.

I feel like the Memorex dude sitting in front of some B&W's. Freakin' awesome.

Glad it sounds good. The speakers in front of the gauges.....temporary right? Just for kicks kinda thing?

robtr8,

Now that is just thinking outside of the box. Very original. I wish I could hear it.

You will find that the perceived height of the image has less to do with the actual elevation of the speakers but rather will seek the level of your ears/eyes when the speakers are spread apart and the distance from both speakers to your ears are an equal distance. Positioning them under the dash and a little farther away with a little upward angle should make them sound even better than resting in front of the cluster.

3" PVC caps cut down to minimum depth and baffled with rings cut from an Oatley inspection panel, purple primer and lots of medium body PVC adhesive. Best I could do on a Saturday without access to the Alro steel & plastic store. Not sure how I'm going to dress them up yet, Di-Noc or paint. Got the idea from DIYMA.com

David- I'm so glad you're still with us! It was your post about the driver dead spot just before we had our little "time out" that got me thinking about bringing the sound stage over to the driver. Thanks for the tip on placement, I'll give it a try.

With the Stereo forum shut down it forced me to find other resources. Between DIYMA and Auto Exotica of STL, I found out about a whole other world of SQL equipment. My plan was to use the KM6500 mids in the dash (after verifying with Stillwater that they could run IB) and use the Pioneer Stage 4 mids as super tweeters. Tony at AE of STL suggested I try the Audible Physics setup. I'm now a believer, THE TWEETER IS DEAD, as they say.

Robtr8. PM me with any questions you have. Not sure I can answer your question here for the benefit of the other members without being in conflict of TOU. Still trying to figure out what constitutes a proper vendor response. :)

Happy New Year!

In the end there was no way of getting around the fact that the AR3K's are huge, relatively speaking, and there wasn't going to be a way to install them in such a way as to broaden the front staging and have them look custom (in a good way). I tried them everywhere, even hanging from the front tower hoop off the Bimini brackets! Then I tried a pair of CDT silk domes, they blended perfectly with the AR6K's and they really broaden the front sound staging. After playing around with positioning them I settled on sticking them as far forward as I could right in the corner of the wind screen.

While playing with the speaker location I tried a Leviathan II thinking a full range D might be nice efficiency wise and I needed an amp that could do an active front stage with band pass on channels 3 & 4. Then I tried a Zuki 6 channel. WOW!

Now I just need to build my PWK box for the L5.
