Malibu dealer in San Francisco?

Hi there,

I will be in the SF Bay Area at the end of January 2012.

Unfortunately the German Malibu dealership in Frankfurt has closed down so I'm looking for a Malibu dealer near San Francisco, CA.

I have to replace the bolt that holds the steering cable to the rudder arm.

Mine is badly worn out and I have too much play in the steering.

(Boat is a 2010 Response Closed Bow)

Any ideas/suggestions...?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

David

Not sure if there is a dealer in the SanFrancisco Bay area, but if not Bakes Marine could probably arrange to have one delievered to your hotel before or during your stay. The hotels will do this for customers, just make prior arrangements with both Bakes and the hotel.

Hope this helps.

As far as I know, there aren't any Malibu dealers near S.F.

It appears that this is what you need. I'd have Bakes ship it to your hotel.

Oooops, wait, you should have Bakes FedEx that bolt. It's pretty expensive.

Hmmm, interesting. A couple of decades ago when I was in the marine industry that was not an uncommon part. Now, apparently, it is fairly rare. Looks like most companies use a clevis end on the steering cable (which is actually a better design than the bolt type that Malibu uses).

:dontknow:

Pete's right about getting it from a Malibu dealer. ~ $30.00 for one bolt... That's stoopid™.

EDIT: Salinas Valley Marine would probably be the closest but you're looking at more than two hours of driving each way.

I bought my boat at The Sporting Edge in Antioch. It is a family run business that has been around for a long time and they have been great to work with. The only other Malibu dealer is in San Jose (Cambell I think). I talked with them when I was looking to buy and they seemed like a good outfit.

You're welcome.

I deliver packages to hotel guests all the time via FedEx.

I also pick up all the stuff they left in their hotel room and ship it back to them.
