Hammerhead problem

Based in hong kong , I have a dream 2006 Malibu 23 lab with the hammerhead.

Last year I had issues and did diagnostic test , I wanted boat in tip top shape and replaced every single thing that showed up on the diagnostic test :

- new fuel injectors

- new oil pressure and fuel pressure regulators

- new fuel pump

- new distributor

- new manifolds

- new throttle body

And a host of other small parts.

I had issues with hot starting and oil pressure which have disappeared now.

The boat is technically 99% with the 1% being the weirdest thing.... At exactly 2600 rpm the engine hesitates and skips like it is fuel starved for about 0.1 second , result is engine warning on display.

It does not happen at 0-2500 and 2700 to full throttle.

Even accelerating through raises no issues , just keeping it steady at 2600 will cause the problem.

I know this is very specific but anyone out there with similar experience and/or suggestions ?

Much appreciated !

May be a fuel pressuer hammer issue. Some of the Monson's have had the problem. Not sure if the Hammerhead has had these issues before or not. The fix was a fuel line cross over that is made of a different materal.

Good luck.

I don't remember if the hammerhead was prone to fuel hammer or not.

One easy way to find out is to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail. The gauge dampens the pulse caused by fuel hammer and the problem goes away. If the problem persists it is likely not fuel hammer.
