L96 Oil Change

Recommended Posts

How do I change the oil in a 2011 'Bu with the L96 engine? With the monsoon, I was able to use a pump to pump the oil through the dipstick. In the L96, the line will not go the last 3 inches or so and does not reach the oil. The dealer said they use some sort of threaded adaptor in the oil pan when they do the change. Whatever it is, i don't see it.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

The pump should have came with different line sizes

I have one that pushes over the drain line and creates a seal

it came with two differnt sizes, but the smaller one which is definitely under 1/4" O.D. does not make it. It hits something and gets stuck.

When you say the drain line, where is that?

IF you can't find the end, feel for drain plug at bottom of oil pan and follow rubber hose which will be attached with a clip at one of the hoist clips.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. It is tough to reach under there!

Zornman, there def is an engine drain tube on your 6.0.

On starboard side, way low, far back within 1 foot of the bilge drain... Its like 12" long, black flexible rubber tube with a brass fitting on the end, it's kept tight with a pastic hose keeper so it's doesn't flop around. Remove the starboard engine panel divider and and lean in from the starboard trunk with that panel removed and you'll see it. You can remove it from the keeper and route it back thru the bilge drain hole to drain the oil out.
