My First Malibu

Hey guys, with the winter coming I figured I should stop lurking on this site and post. Bought my first Malibu back at the end of July and this site has been ton of help with all sorts of things by just reading threads.

It’s a 2005 Malibu IRIDE. Guy I bought it from bought it in 07 as a leftover and only put 60 hours on it in since. Boat was less than 40 minutes away. Freshwater only. It was kept in the water in the summer so it took some wear but overall it was in good condition and dealer maintained every season.

Pics were from July when I first brought her home. I don’t know if I have any recent pics, but don’t worry, the scum has been cleaned off the bottom of the boat. I couldn’t sleep that first night seeing that bottom.

Grew up skiing/boarding behind my dad’s I/O’s (86’ SeaRay and 95’ Crownline, both 17’ with 4 bangers), so this is a huge difference and a great upgrade.

Scoop on the boat:

2005 Malibu IRIDE

LCR Engine

Titan Tower, Racks, with bimini and flag holder (NJ req. flag)

Malibu Cover

MLS Center Ballast

Manual Wedge

Perfect Pass

Fiberglass swim platform

Sony head unit with sony xplode speakers (4) and ipod hook up

Pull Up Cleats

Single Axle Boat Mate Trailer

Prev.owner threw in 2 400 sacs and 1 bow sac not sure on the weight.

Boat is currently winterized and in garage storage over at my parents house. Currently the 95 crownline and the 05 malibu are sitting next to each other its quite awesome. Titan tower was easy to collapse. Boat is pretty bare but does everything I need. I pretty much ski 40%/board 60% so it’s a good combo for me.

Thanks to the crew for all the info I got from this site. Hopefully these pics post correctly.

Congrats on your purchase. You have a very nice looking boat. The interior looks like it is brand new. I'd love to see some shots of the exterior cleaned up.

If I was ordering a boat I never would have gone with orange, probably a blue, but it was a good find and the orange has grown on me. The interior was is great shape which us what really sold me.

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new Bu. Great looking boat. I'm not a fan of orange, initially, but have been seeing more orange boats on our lake this past summer. On the water, orange looks very good! It's growing on me.

Hoping winter goes quickly for you so that boat can get back on the water.

I was the same way about orange.....we origanally were looking at ordering new and orange was not even on the radar, then I stumbled accross our 08 VTX and conpletly fell in love with the color combo.

Congrats on the boat......looks like it will be a source of enjoyment for many years to come!

I saw your boat up a Wizard a couple of weeks ago. Love the Adrenaline rims. My new 2012 may have more orange in it again after all the compliment we got our ours this year.

Ya she is going to spend a bit of time @ wizzard this winter for some TLC. I love the rims but wonder whats it say about my priorities when the nicest rims I own are on a boat trailer?

The orange / copper on your 2011 is sharp (I see she is up on wizzards web site now)....it will be interesting to see what you come up with for your next boat.

Yes it is. I am still trying to figure out what to go with. I hear you on the rims! My trailer had 20" rims and a matching spare!
