Use a wet-vac shop vac-winterization

Recommended Posts

I know this is nothing new, but to those who are winterizing for the first time use a shop vac to suck all the water up. I hold it down by the block drains when I take the plugs out (absolutely no water in the bilge!) I hold it on the ends of the exhaust drain hoses (no water in bilge :)

I also insert the end into each hose I disconnect including the heater hose and it sucks all water right out of the system. Very slick! I'm so confident in the process that I may not even run antifreeze through it this year.

I also reverse flow (pressure) and blow air into the engine via the tranny cooler letting it escape at the drain holes and exhaust cross over hoses.. Have never used anti freeze and have never had a problem either. No heater.

same here. blow it out with the old shop vac, shut different drains so it chases it all out. works great.
