DEXTRON II OR DEXTRON III FOR SKI VEE????

THE ZF TRANSMISSION MANUAL HAS A LISTING OF RECOmmended ATF oils most are dextron II why is everyone sayng to use dextron III

,can /should dextron II still be used since the manual recommends them?

Higher numbers of Dexron can be used in transmissions that require lower, but not the other way around. You could use Dexron III or VI, each version is suppose to be better then the previous.

problem is that many people say that synthetic oil should not be used in transmission as it reduces life ..

most dextron III are synthetic so i will stick to dextron II like manual says to be safe.. thks for info guys!

synthetic oil reduces transmission life?? thats the first time ive heard that.... what kills trannys is heat. synthetic tranny fluid holds up better the heat than regular tranny fluid. dex VI ia backwards compatible so it wont damage your tranny.
