What year is your boat, III is backwards compatible, in most cases III can be substituted for II from what I've heard.

Higher numbers of Dexron can be used in transmissions that require lower, but not the other way around. You could use Dexron III or VI, each version is suppose to be better then the previous.

if your tranny uses dex II or III id use dex VI, full synthetic completely backwards compatible with dex II and III and it holds up to heat way better than both.

problem is that many people say that synthetic oil should not be used in transmission as it reduces life ..

most dextron III are synthetic so i will stick to dextron II like manual says to be safe.. thks for info guys!

synthetic oil reduces transmission life?? thats the first time ive heard that.... what kills trannys is heat. synthetic tranny fluid holds up better the heat than regular tranny fluid. dex VI ia backwards compatible so it wont damage your tranny.
