Hi do you tighten the bow eye 'not lifting eye"

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have a 2000 LSV and noticed that my bow eye, the one that I attach to the trailer not a lifting eye, is loose. I was wondering how I go about tightening it. I assume that there are a couple of nuts on the back side. The issues I have is how do I get back there? Are there any tricks?

Thanks

In my boat, if i remove the front bow cushion, there is enough room for me to reach up under the seat towards the front of the boat and get a wrench on the nuts for the bow eye. Not sure if your boat is designed that way, but it's worth a try.

if the 2 nuts on the inside don't slip then you should be able to just tighten the outside 2. I would try that first. But don't tighten them down too tight, like every other hole through the gel coat, it's probably not chamfered from the factory and you'll get spider cracking, don't ask how I know this

Sorry, it has been so long but I came across this again, and hate to leave things open, so I tried tightening from the outside with no luck. and can't access / see the nuts on the inside by removing a cushion. I was able to reach from the side where the cup holders are with a rachet and socket and get to them to tighten them up. Issue was short arms and I could not feel the bolts or see them.

Check it off as fixed.
