Fuel Pump?

I have a 97 Malibu Response with the 320 Monsoon. I bought the boat last year and have always notice a bit of a whine with the engine. Had the boat out two weeks ago and everything ran fine. Saturday I was just going to drop it in to get the oil temp up so I could change it before winterizing. Engine cranks, gauges work, but won't start. Doesn't sound like fuel pump is kicking on when I turn the key. I checked the three fuses on the relays under the metal cover and they all seem fine. Is there anything else I can look for before replacing the pump?

My other problem is that I don't really have the funds to replace the pump until spring. Should I still change the oil before winterizing even though I can't start it?

I used to own a 97 sunsetter with monsoon engine and changed the fuel pump this spring and sold the boat this summer.

I bought my fuel pump from Jasper. They are brand new for $139. It is a carter pump which is the OE on motor. Don't be fooled into thinking that the AC Delco pump is OE....is it not and it is three times as much.

Wo - Back up.

It may not be your fuel pump.

I would start by confirming that your kill switch is working. When not working the fuel pump will not power up. The plastic clip can also fatigue. One way to test it to turn the key to the fuel pump on position and then pull the wires of the back of the kill switch and touch them together. If the fuel pump powers up you have found your problem.

Try that out and get back to us.

If I were you, I'd still change the oil. It may take a bit longer with a cold engine, and I might not get quite as much

out, but I would rest easier knowing that I've got fresh oil sitting in the block during the winter layover.

I tested the kill switch and still nothing. I don't have spark at the plugs. I tested the 3 relays and the only one getting power is the battery. Is there a ground somewhere that I can check or anything else to test for?
