20W-50 Castrol ok?

Recommended Posts

Steve B.

I think my owners manual (95 350 magnum EFI) say's use a detergent 20W-40 or 20W50.

Does a synthetic blend Castrol 20W-50 sound good? Thanks,

Steve B.

edit: it is on sale, half off at local cars r us place.

I was wondering the same. My manual says to use 20W-50 racing oil so I bought Valvoline VR1 Synthetic....hopefully all is well with that oil too.

A Mercruiser Mag should call for 25W-40, 20W-50 is close enough, most guys in hotter temperatures down south run that oil.

I ran 20w-50 all season long this year.

I switched to 15w-40 my last oil change, because the oil pressure was sky high when the engine is cold in cold weather at the end of the season. (75 psi).
