Just bought a boat: Question about winterization

Recommended Posts

Hello to all, I'm new to this forum and new to the boat industry. I just bought a boat (Axis A22) 2009.

This is my first boat.

My local Malibu/Axis dealer have no more place for my boat this winter.

The previous owner used to put the boat into his garage at a 50 degre temperature with a dehumidifier. Without any winterization prep. Only perform a regular wash....

Can I still to that ? Or should I look for another dealership. Usually here in Quebec, dealer do a acid wash, engine winterization prep and shrink.

Thanks you for yours answers,

It appreciated.

If you are going to store the boat anywhere where it will be exposed to freezing temps for more than 24 hours, you WILL need to winterize it.

First of all :welcome: and congratulations on the Axis.

As mentioned above if the boat will be anywhere near freezing for a day or so you will need to winterize. There are a lot of threads on this site about how to do that and what you will need so I wont :horse: here. A little mecnanical ability is needed but you need not be a mechanic, basic tools will get you through but an impeller puller (avaliable on Bakes, west marine etc) will make life a lot easier. Do a search on winterize and you will find more information than you ever thought existed.

Once you have read through some of the infromation feel free to ask specific questions and you will receive a lot of answers, most of us here want to help you enjoy your boat and spend your money on accessories and upgrades not maintenance. You really wont "meet" a better bunch of guys and gals, though at times we can be a little childish, so watch your man card.,

Thanks you both of you for your answer.

It appreciated. I will go with winterization.

Good plan....I'm in Ontario and Quebec tends to get colder temps than we do....
