Temp Issue on 07 Vride

Recommended Posts

We were out riding tonight and out of nowhere the center digital unit displayed a temp warning and said "service required". The gage goes to 240 degrees and it came on at 220. I have 542 hours on it and have done all the regular maintanence on it. Does this sound like the intake pump has gone out? The intake under the boat was not clogged. We were a half mile (maybe a little more) from the dock and let it cool down to 185 degrees and then would drive it a little till we got back. Did this cause more damage? Any input would be so appreciated!!

Can't be sure but I bet your ok. Your on track with the impeller, if you have not changed the impeller, check it first. If it did go make sure that the pieces are picked out of the heat exchanger. Next step would be to change the thermostat.

Good luck! and I hope there isn't any long term damage.

(keep in mind most modern cars run about 210 to 220 so you should be ok)

did you look at engine? any leaks? you have 2 pumps, intake (impeller), and circ pump. If impeller detonated you could just have blockage in transmission cooler.

As to temp, issue isn't so much that engine got too hot, but in cars the water temp is the same as engine temp. That's one of the reasons our engines are set to run cooler is because the raw water is significantly cooler than the engine. Otherwsie it would be like spraying a garden hose on a hot car engine. But, I'd still be surprised if a problem if you got shut down quickly.

Sure sounds like the raw water impellar. Remember, if it busted up, the pieces went somewhere, and will clog the system and further cause over heating.
