I know with a spider crack in gel coat everyone makes a big deal about sealing it like the fiberglass will get hurt from the water, i dont understand how this is actually a problem gelcaot is just pigmented vinyl ester resin and the resin used to layup most boats nowadays is vinyl ester so how will it hurt anything, and to prove it would hurt anything look under your boat where the shaft comes through the hull, there is a hole cut after the hull was made and there is no sealing of the edge of the fiberglass so really what is the big deal with fixing or sealing spider cracks and gouges in gel coat other than for appearance.

I'm with you, just leave your spider cracks alone.
