Rudder Re Installation - 2007 WakeSetter VLX

Recommended Posts

G'day All,

My brother and I picked up our 2007 Wakesetter VLX 2 weeks ago and broke the prop shaft on our first trip out :(

It turns out the clowns that have been servicing it never checked the prop shaft alignment and it fatigue failed. (Pretty bad for 314 hours!)

No big deal, we have a new shaft and have sorted the alignment out.

The problem I now have is the re installation of the rudder. I went to install it last night and it jammed 2/3rds of the way though the rudder block, upon investigation I have discovered a nylon top seal in my rudder block.

The bottom O ring is fine, I am still trying to decide if I damaged the Nylon seal or not. (I think its ok).

Can anyone tell me how to install the rudder without upsetting this nylon seal?

Also this its an Aussie boat if that makes a difference.

Cheers and Thanks

Stewart

G'day Guys,

With a bit of further inspection and flattening the top seal with my finger the rudder has gone back in easily.

Lets hope it doesn't leak....

Cheers

Stewart
