Is this hull damage?

my 08 that was bought new has those screws but they all are all even and not all messed up like yours. the screws hold the shaft log in. it kinda looks like something wedged between the shaft and the log lifting up on the log and pulling some screws deeper in the fiberglass. and whatever was wedged would also be what messed up the shaft? did you not ever look at the bottom of the boat before you bought it?

Footinglongline - So are they thru bolts to hold the shaft log on your Sunsetter? I felt like I have a good knowledge of the 90's boats, but I'm learning something here.

yes, they bolt or screw into the shaft log. The screws and pattern are very similar to the pics posted. Keep in mind, in 96 they switched to HDS , mine is a 95. I have no leaking problems with this set up and I dont have harmonic vibration. I really don't see the advantage of the HDS. I know they made a big deal about it like it was a revolutionary brake thru but I really think it's disadvantages are outweighed by any perceived benefit.

I thought that too. Could be that the alignment was so out of whack that the coupler gave way and fouled it up too.
