2004 XTI Hot start issues

Recommended Posts

My wife and I just picked this boat up. It has the 340 Monsoon with 350 hours. It was about 90 degrees today and it had one minor hot start issue midway through the day. At the end of the day, after a 15 minute ride to the ramp, I cut the engine to organize the boat and it had another hot start episode. It fired momentarily then died. After it cooled (10 minutes or so), it fired and stayed running without issue until we got it out of the water. It seems like a vapor lock issue in the injector rails. It's definitely a fuel issue. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there a remedy?

Thanks.

Yeah, some people have had vapor lock issues. Do a search and you'll find some threads.

Seems like a common problem. Any thoughts to adding an assist pump on a remote switch upstream of the main pump? Turn it on in the event of a vapor lock to get fuel flowing...
