thinking ahead to the winter

I know I know, nobody wants to think about winter at this time. Unfortunately, I have to keep my boat outside this winter  . I am beginning to think ahead of how I am going to store it. Of course, I will properly winterize the engine.

As far as covering it goes. I am thinking of lowering the tower and getting a big cover to cover all of the boat. I need to remove the board racks, cross member, and tower speakers. How do I remove those items? Would it be easier to just remove the tower from the hinges and store it in the garage? If so, how hard is this to do and how heavy is the tower?

Also, what are your thoughts on removing the amps as well? Is this easy?

What about shrink wrapping the boat as well? That works well for a lot people.

Ok, all I do is use the factory cover and then sacrificial (tarp) cover over the whole thing to keep some of the junk (snow, leaves are all gone by then) off the good cover. This is ofcourse after a complete winterization. I also start draining the engine around early October, usually don't put it away until November time frame.

Boat shrink wrap, heat sealed and impenetrable when done right. Check your local ads over the next onth or so, many mobile services are available, or marinas can do it at their site for you to tow home and park. Not the clear stretch wrap on pallets.

I have a cover that goes over my tower all the way to my trailer. I had it custom made from Sunbrella fabric. I remove my racks, remove the swim platform, fold my tower, put the cover on and back it into my carport after each use. It stays perfectly clean. I don't winterize as I'm in Phoenix and use the boat year round.

I'm not a fan of shrink wrap as it's expensive and traps humidity.
