CVP Stainless Props

It's been brought up numerous times over the years, and I've seen a quite a number of props that tossed a blade, but yesterday I saw the nastiest break yet.

If you still run a CVP stainless prop and your boat is over 10 years old, I reccomend that you make it a wall ornament at this time and install a new Acme prop.

Ouch! After reading similar posts I recently replaced the CVP prop on my '98 Sunsetter with the ACME 525. Gained 1 MPH on the top end and it could pull a horse on a slalom ski. totally worth the $'s. Don't let that picture above be you!

Ouch!

I have been waiting to replace mine because I have been told to stop spending money.....i think I need to show this picture to the CFO.

Very easy sell to the CFO....just tell her new prop is "cost avoidance" :innocent:

Dumb question ...

I just got a 1997 Echelon a couple of months back. It has a stainless steel prop. The former owners said that they replaced the prop after hitting a stump (at idle). How do I know if I have a "CVP" prop? Is it marked on the prop? I admittedly haven't crawled under the boat to look closely at it.

I have my old CVP stainless as a spare. Now I am wondering if I should even keep it for that purpose. Nasty photo.
