Cracked gauges

Noticed the other day that a friend of mines Mastercraft Tournament Team boat (which I think is a Prostar 197), Anyway all of his gauges have cracks in them, he said that a friend of his cleaned his dash with "something" other than water, you can see where the cracks are, that whatever was used scratched the plastic, I was wondering if the 'cleaner" or what ever it was caused the plastic on the gauge to become brittle ?............any thoughts

Seen it happen on poly snow plow blades from cutomers using brake clean (instant spider web cracking). Also fogginess on headlights from floor degreaser. That's about it, though.

Hopefully anyone using a 197 TT would be smart enough not to use something like that to clean with.

Windex (or just about any glass cleaner) will cause your gauge faces to crack. Don't use anything with ammonia.
