Thermostat change on 2007 LCR

Recommended Posts

Anyone got a how-to on changing the thermostat on a LCR engine? (2007 vRide.) I'm assuming it's fairly easy, but if I can find directions, all the better.

Did a search, none of my search inputs gave me what I was looking for...close, but not quite.

thanks!

It's pretty easy.

Un-bolt the T-stat housing. (should be 2 bolts)

Remove and replace T-stat and gaskets. Clean up rust.

Bolt back together. Wrist tight is the torque.

So, I swapped in a new thermostat. Easy-peasy.

Didn't fix my problems. Boat was running cold, it's still running cold. Won't warm up past 130 degrees. Really not sure where else to look.

Any ideas?

If you replaced the thermostat and it's a 160 degree F. thermostat, the next thing I would check is the temperature sensor that is giving you the 130 degree reading. It could be your motor is at operating temp (160) and the reading is incorrect.

I'm pretty sure the reading is correct because the heater won't blow hot air either. It's tepid at best, and instantly drops the boat temps another 10 degrees when on...
