Alternator bracket bolts

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 XTI and i just found the two 5/16 bolts that hold the lower bracket that supports the alternator were snapped off. It is a two piece bracket. The upper potion has a smaller bolt that is in great shape. I cant imagine that the tension of the belt would snap these bolts. Junk bolts from factory? or should I be worried about something else?

Thanks, Jason

You may be due for the updated bracket.

I had my bolts shear on my 2000 boat twice until I found out about the newer bracket.

Unfortunately, my lunch is over and I don't have time to look up the info.

If I remember when I get home, I'll pull it up for you.

P/N S495122 alt bracket kit is what you want. The bracket is formed differently and uses shorter bolts that are less prone to breaking.

Wow,

Larry bailed us both out, thanks!

Just added this thread to my "personal collection"

The alternator bolts just broke on my 98 VLX w/ a Callaway 365 Hammerhead. Would this be the correct replacement bracket kit for my boat and where is the best place to order it?
