Manual wedge installation

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have a 2000 wakesetter VLX, that did not come with a wedge or mounting plate installed, a guy from my church just gave me 2 brand new in the box manual wedges (pretty great guy huh?) but I still do not have the mounting plate for the manual wedge, I called the closest dealer, and they did some checking and said they can only order the mounting plate for the floating wedge. Well...that sucks, does anyone know where I can purchase a mounting plate for a manual wedge?

I just installed a manual wedge on my 01 VLX Wakesetter... Had to make a plate out of Aluminum. Traced the mounting plate out line and matched the bolt holes.

Most people are upgrading to floaters so they are keeping the backing plate.

You may want to post your extra wedge. Won't last to long around here.

I'd agree, making a mounting plate wouldn't be that hard. Just get some thick aluminum plate and cut it out.

Or, you can buy one from this guy on eBay. He's been on there a while selling Wedge parts. It wouldn't surprise me if you called him and he was willing to sell you just the backing plate.

Good luck! You could certainly make more than your money back by selling the extra wedge on here. I'm sure it would sell quickly.

The mounting bracket for the floating wedge is the exact same as the wedge you are mounting, so if you want to just pay for it and be done that would work. However, I think you can do it for a LOT less by doing what Aquadisiac did. The backing plate is an exact mirror of the mounting bracket, so just take your mounting bracket to a machine shop and have them trace it on to 3/8" aluminum stock and cut it out.

Good luck!
