The marina says it's Gunna take 16 hrs alone to just pull and put the motor back in concdering nothing else breaks on the way out. Does anyone know a way I can solve this problem? without breaking the bank?

If it is a Walter V like I had in my '06 it was leaking/weeping because the 4-9/16" sump nuts on the bottom of the V drive sump pan were loose. That and the fact that when they cast the sump pan the deck face had 2 low spots port/star sides of the pan from the casting process. It was very easy to remove (4 nuts and the sump p/u line) but kind of a PITA to get the 4 nuts to torque specs (tight space), otherwise a 2 wrench and permatex job. I did deck the sump face to try and eliminate the low spots but that only requred a file and emery cloth. Check to see if it might be there before you spend the cash and loose the boat for 2 months.

We can do it in less time, but you'd need to spend the extra time driving up and back from our shop. But, has anyone pinpointed the source of the leak?

16 billable hours to pull a transmission is definitely high. If you removed the interior pieces and the frame around the motor you can cut that cost way down. The only bad part is removing the rear seat back.

If they have clear access to the motor it should only be 3 or so hours to pull the engine, reinstall and align the motor. Plus whatever it costs to fix the transmission.

And I can pull the rear seatback and the framing in 2 hours (that damn screw behind the pylon is the hardest part) so they're over by 11 hours minus repairs to the tranny.

You should check the oil pressure switch on the walter v drive. Its on the port side of the walter v drive. Mine was bent when the seat caved in before that was fixed. The oil was leaking out of the threaded area. I replaced it and that fixed the problem. Also, what color is the oil. If it looks like regular oil, its the walter v drive. If its pink/red then its the transmission. The transmission also has a plate on the bottom where the filter is and I believe there is 3 screws that hold it in place. It may also need tightening if the oil that is leaking is pink/red.

FWIW, he should have a Ski-vee v-drive unit and both the tranny and v-drive units take ATF.
