New Boat - 2001 Sanger DXII

Well, I finally caved. The restoration on my 1988 Skier ground to a halt because of grad school, and I couldn't live with myself if I had spent three years in Vegas without a boat, so I picked one up on Monday. It's a 2001 Sanger DXII. Great condition overall, with a few cosmetic issues on the interior because the previous owner took out the speakers, and for some reason the pylon, before it was repossessed. With a coat of wax, new side panels and a pylon it will look like new.

The part I still can't believe is the engine hours. 63.4 off the computer on the engine, 80 on the dash gauge. That initially concerned me because it's barely more than six hours a year, but the compression test was perfect and it runs like it's new.

I am a little surprised by how small it is. It's a foot longer than my Skier, but noticeably lower profile. I'm going to Lake Powell in three weeks, and I have a feeling it's going to seem like a long wait between now and then.

Congrats on the new ride!

Not to steer you away from TheCrew, but there is now a Sanger specific forum www.sangernation.com. It's not TheCrew, but I still something to check out. I'm JSPSanger. Real unique I know...

Nice ride!!! Being an 01 it really has the 80s look which is awesome! Has a lot of similarites to the Ski Supreme and has a Centurion porpoise bow!!! But it also has the EURO F3 Skier look too.... I like it!

DONT STOP ON THE SKIER!!!!

Don't worry, I'm not done with the Skier, it's just going to have to wait until I can consistently devote more time to it. Right now I might get a day a month, if I'm lucky. I still consider that my primary boat ... the Sanger is the temporary one.

there are two things you can do in LV in the summer when it's hot. Leave town or go to the lake. When I was a kid we spent a lot of the summers in orange county or southern utah. Of course my parents didn't have a boat. I could not imagine living there now without one.

Sweet ride! Good to hear the Skier is still in the works though. Thumbup.gif

I have to give Sanger credit, they build good boats. They still use wood, which I like for the stringers but I'm not sold on for the floors, but overall the quality and attention to detail is impressive. Everything is reinforced and stiffened, and they run all the wiring through conduits to keep everything clean and organized. I also like the fact that they're a smaller company that is still sort of semi-custom, but after growing up with my Skier I'll always have a preference for Malibu.

Mainly I'm curious to barefoot behind it. I love my Skier, but the wake is unforgiving. I'm hoping the Sanger is a bit softer.

I'm sure it will be.

Good to hear they build a good boat. You don't hear much bad about them. Thumbup.gif

Being a previous Sanger owner. I'm sure you will like the boat. It will produce a great barefoot wake. Does it have the plate on the back already? If not you may want to install it if your going to do a lot of barefooting.

You will want to be carefull on the big waters, the bow really like to dip into the waves. But once on plane you will be surprise how well the boat handles the waves.

Awesome boat! Sanger makes quality stuff and they are one of the last remaining 'mom & pop' outfits around. I love how the DXIi sits so low in the water.. they look sweet!
