Malibu Advice

Hey guys.....I've got this little RHOBEAUT. Its a 2000 23LSV Escape Wakesetter. I'm considering selling it. I'm reluctant, but I just don't use the boat as much as I would like. This has been a great boat for us and is in rather good condition. I've taken very good care of her. Soft ballast and pumps have been added to the rear lockers. It came with front ballast in the ski locker (MLS) and a manual wedge. Everything on this boat is operational. New skins were installed a couple or three years ago. One would have to search long and hard to find a boat of this age in the condition of RHOBEAUT.

Anyway, I've posted a link below for some pics. How 'bout taking a peek and let me know what you think would be a fair asking price. Yes, I've looked around on some other sites and have gotten some pricing history, but I thought you guys would be a great source of info considering your knowledge of Malibu and the condition in which this boat appears.

Thanks a ton!

Beau

I'm a slalom guy but man, that boat looks like new. What about other options? Heater? Cruise? Cover?

Heater, cover, service manual, service records, boatmate trailer w/ disc brakes and new rubber, bunks repalced 3 years ago. Docking lights.....there is no sound system/stereo. A selection of anchors.

Everything is there.....the table, the table support. The wind-dam that goes across the walk-thru. The center portion of the bow seating section.

Approx 500 hours.

Manual Wedge. Heater connection mod for easy draindown. Y pipe on heater hose/primary pump hose.

Bimini

This boat, if I decide to sell it comes fully equipped.

Hmmm. If you are reluctant and don't get out as much as you want then maybe you should make a plan to get out more. Plan out now a bunch of days through the Spring and Summer that are boating days and weekends and get out alot to make really sure whether to sell or not. If it's paid for what is another year to really make sure that is the right choice?

Geez from the pictures the boat looks mint. Since it's a 2000 I'm betting it's paid for. Are you sure you want to part with it? To replace it with new would be pricey.

That there is good advice.

BTW, great looking Bu! She is CLEAN!

That thing looks great! I'd agree with others and hang onto it for a bit assuming it is paid for. The worse thing you can do is sell something like this that you're not 100% ready to get rid of. You'll end up regretting it and be hard pressed to get another similar boat in that condition that you know the ins and outs of.

That being said, I guess I'll take the plunge and be the first to throw a number out - I'd say you'd get around $21-22K. I see others on onlyinboards priced higher, but my guess is they aren't selling. Then again, I bought mine in the fall and prices seemed to be drastically lower then. I'm suprised tonight to see where some of these boats are priced  .

Agree with the previous post... around here that boat ought to fetch low 20s. And I'd bet that installing perfect pass would be a dollar-for-dollar return on investment that would get the boat sold quick fast in a hurry.

I bought a 2000 Escape 23 LSV (not a Wakesetter but the same boat except for optional equipment) with the 375 hp LS1 engine this spring for $20k (asking was $25k), it has the wedge but no tower or ballast (I did not want a tower because I have to go under a bridge). I looked at 3 others (2 wakesetters) before buying this one - the best deal was the other 23 LSV at $18K. Both of the 23 LSV's were in great shape with low hours, the 2 wakesetters both needed more work (cosmetics - vinyl repair and cleaning) and were priced higher, I do not know what they sold for but asking was $23k and they were both for sale for more than 2 months.

That's one clean 00'. Is it that you don't care taking it out or just hard getting people to go? I've contemplated this also, I am giving it one more year also, the weather last year was just terrible and I had trouble finding people to go with, my thoughts were to just join a ski club and not have to depend on filling the boat with people that were not that interested in going. Most of the family has lost interest due to the weather and other hobbies plus I'm paying $300 a month for storage that could go to pay other bills. Hope it works out for you

If it's paid for and storing it isn't an issue I would keep it even if you don't use it much. Just one, week long camping or houseboat trip a year would be get you plenty of use out of it to make it worth keeping IMO.

If your trying to advertise it I would take the name off the transom.....kind of implies it breaks down and you have to do a lot of rowing.....

I see your point. The name actually comes from the combination of my wife's name and mine: Rhoda and Beau

I bought a 2001 Wakesetter 23 LSV last October for $17,000. It was mechanically sound but needed a lot of tender loving care. I have added a perfect pass, more ballast, new skins, new cover, removed and repainted the windshield, and had the hull wet sanded. It came with a Titan Series I tower and a stereo system. I still need to get a bimini. I haven't added up all the bills yet but think my total investment is between $23,000 - $25,000. It looks very similar to your boat. I would have bought your boat in heartbeat for the low 20's.

Beau, sounds like your a little hesitant on selling, in that case don't sell, like jetski said even one week a year would be worth keeping. Anyway, once its sold its gone forever you'll never get a boat in that condition for the price it would sell for. Do you surf? I would load that boat up and surf the wake, have fun!

Dude, hang on to that boat for one more year then sell it to me! I just bought a 2001 sunsetter (Sunkicker) and really like it. If I get past the first year with the wife, I should be able to upgrade and your boat has everything I want in mine but don't have, V-drive, Tandem.... Anyway, very nice looking boat. I agree with taking the name of the transom if you are going to sell. Nothing at all wrong with it, but when someone is looking you want them to see it as theirs, and your name of the boat on the back makes it yours, not theirs. Again, sweet boat.
