`05 Blade Tower - Carbon Fiber

West Coast Rider

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was considering buing a used `05 Malibu Wakesetter. I have done quite a bit of reading on the very limited run carbon fiber "Blade Tower". Only available in `05 and the begining of `06 for apparently production issues, the producer was not able to produce enough to keep up with the demand of Malibu boats that ordered the tower.

Lots of people have said that there were strength issues, spider cracking issues in the carbon fiber (which is really not that different from fiberglass, IMHO).

What I'm asking is; Does anybody out there still have this tower on there boat? Have you had any issues with the tower or had to replace the tower?

I'm not looking for "well my friends tower...."

Just looking to see that now 6 years later somebody who actually owns the boat is still loving their tower and everything is preforming the way it should be.

Thanks all,

I have had no problems with my blade tower (05) they are rocky side to side in choppy water but very sturdy aft (the rider end). If it doesn't have cracks by now I'd presume it's gonna be good here on out. Someone with more time than me can search out some archives on this site on this subject. If you buy it and need a bimini I would check with Tower bimini, a few years back he had quite a few black ones and had a smoking price on them.

Edit: I have the first 05 VLX built so you can't find a Blade much older than mine.

Thanks for the info guys.

I checked out the boat and it was quite badly sun beaten. After doing quite a bit of research into Carbon fibre and talking to a bodyman friend of mine. Carbon Fiber is really not that different than fiberglass.

Thanks again,

Certainly not the owner.... :tease2:

I can attest your tower has been rock solid.
