05 MC TT review

This is a nice boat, it looks great this year and it skis well too. I didn't have my camera so no pictures but this is the besst looking TT boat they put out since they started. The hull is unchanged for this year so if you liked or disliked the wake the last two years this boat is unlikely to change your mind. I was mostly interested in the pull because they changed to a 1.23:1 tranny from their 1.52:1 last year and they added the "throttle-by-wire". The boat pulled me from deep water with authority, I'm at 4862' altitude, but I think they were using all the throttle. For reference I don't like being pulled up with all the throttle in my 'bu with a monsoon. It got to speed quickly with 540# of crew and held the speeds well. It was easy to get free of this boat and the boat was still there when I started leaning against it- that's what I want. The wake had a little hardness to it at 32, more than the RLXi and the '02 SN that I regularly ski with. I only skied 32, 35, and 38 so I can't comment on any other lengths or speeds as I only went 34mph. I didn't drive it yet but that will come, I can say that the prop wash looked appropriate after looking behind when outside the gates. They didn't have the tuneable rudder on this boat which seems a step backwards, the boat owner took several trips down the lake and then pulled the boat out to grind on the rudder to "load" it.

Generally my first impression is favorable. Last years boat was terribly difficult to get free of which made it the least favored boat by all in my areabut, that was with a 1.52 tranny and the Lq9, this year it's a 1.23 tranny and the MCX engine. I'm not a gear head but that engine looks cool! I'm not going to go sell my 'bu for one anytime soon but they are getting better.
