Replacing Gas Struts on 02' VLX WakeSetter

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, as the title states, I have an 02' Wakesetter VLX that needs new gas struts for the cargo and engine area.

All the struts are the same one but my boat is an hour away and I forgot to write down their part number.

Can anyone help me out and snap a pic or know the style, size or part number? There are a blue sticker on them with all the data.

I would certainly appreciate it!!!!

Thanks

If you have a auto parts store near your boat, you could easily replace them then. Just pull um off and take them in.

Thanks guys. I know I can pull the part and go to the auto store. But the boat in 1 hr away and it is unreasonable to do that. Plus the auto store and online boat stores charge $25 when you can get them online for $10.

Anyone else have a pic of the blue sticker or know the size?

Thanks

Thanks. I clicked on that and saw the photo of the inboard hatch and it didn't register as the correct one. But that other link certainly looks like it.

Appreciate the help.

You're welcome...

I think both the links I gave in my last post are the shocks you're looking for.

As far as buying one aftermarket, all you need is the length and pressure.

Others be aware that the struts linked above on the Bakes website for the rear hatch 0n my 02' are incorrect. (http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=1394) They are not this long. I ordered them on a website, took me a month to get to my boat and they are too long. Website only has 30 return policy and now I am stuck with $70 with of struts that I can't use.

The correct struts for rear hatches and engine bay for 02' VLX are

spd-gs-5280-30

Plastic Socket Type Of End

Extended 17 inches

Compressed 10.25 inches

Just as a reference, I just bought these for my 04 wakesetter side hatches, and they worked fine:

Great IndyXC.

If anyone needs some 5300-60lbs I can give you a heck of a deal on them shipped. I have 4 of them brand new: http://www.bakesonli...il.aspx?ID=1394

I just looked above, in the two links posted, I'm guessing you wanted the struts for 3 piece piece hatch instead of the 2 piece hatch.

You didn't try calling bakes and returning them? They are usually really good... ?
