So i'm about to bite the bullet on a power wedge and have figured out how to control it with my homebrew mtc.

were these power wedges ever availailble for the s23 wake hull (wakesetter/sunsetter/vride) or does anyone know if it'll have any adverse affects?

If you are interested I have a slightly used complete power wedge 2009 to sell you. All it needs is a backing plate that you can get off ebay.

It has brand new pistons and works flawlessly. I can show you on a video and pictures. I'll sell it for $1000 firm.

I don't know for sure, but my best educated guess is that you'd be fine.

Added one to my 2006 Vride and it works great. I need a better controller though - works great but no feedback on position. What are you planning for position feedback? I would like to know.

Position feedbak or a guage is the only issue I did not address and probably wont because I can just look in the mirror and see the wake. The actuators spin free at the top and bottom of deployment so they wont burn out.

I believe I was the first! Added a power wedge to my 1997 Response 4 seasons ago works super and installed with no issues. I just went through my entire wedge system yesterday to make sure it was ready for this season and adjusted properly. I was "informed" by a few peeps here way back then that it absoutely would not work and that a child may get hurt when it was retracted or some crap and that my transom would fall into the lake. Just do it, one of the real cool things it does is throws a 20' rooster tail if slightly deployed at speed, real fun. Dont let the backing plate be a deal stopper. It is just 1/4" plate steel nothing fancy. I used to have a template of an old one but dont know where it is after 4 years. Someone should be able to trace one out for you from one they have around.

One thing you need to consider is the switch. Lenco, they make the actuators for Malibu, sells a single toggle and it comes with a diagram on how to wire it up. Super easy. Hardest part of the entire install is mounting the switch!

LMK off line if you have any questions.

Best,

Andy

What about using a trim indicator gauge for the position feedback. Seems it would be the simplest to adapt....just a thought.

Wish I had a grand to drop right now....I would so put that PW on my Echelon.

A trim position sensor is what Malibu uses. The part and part number for the sensor is this:

Volvo Penta 3861169 and mounts to the pivot point on the left arm of the wedge. The sensor is not cheap about $250 bucks from Volvo.

Anyone got a pic of this? I don't recall seeing anything of the sort...

Looks like it is attached to the top pivot point of the actualtor. Seems like a simple blot on (item 14 is the sensor).

Here are some photos for you. You will see that Malibu has a custom base made from some type of plastic and the sensor attaches to that base. 2 pictures in this post and two more in the next.

The power wedge I worked definately did not have that....? 07 23lsv

It is off of a 2009 and it is going to be installed on a 2004.

Did the 09 have Maliview?

I don't know. My guess is this is how Malibu positions the wedge at the lowest position (down) at idle and then when the boat is moving foward at 15 mph or so it moves up to the set position which I think is 10 or 15 degrees back from the fully deployed positon.

I need to replace the sensor above as it is not functioning and i am debating weather to replace it with the exact part or buy a sensor and gauge set. I am trying to find the specs on the sensor to match it with a gauge. That sensor is really expensive when you boil it down for what it does, a waterproof potentiometer.
