2002 Pro Digital Perfect Pass Speedometer Not Working

I need some advice to repair the Perfect Pass on my 2002 Sunsetter XTI 23'. The speedometer just recently stopped working. It reads zero. The paddle wheel looks to be in good shape and spinning freely. The system works fine using RPM mode. Sounds like a electrical short? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi SunHasSetted02,

Try gently re-seating the paddlewheel connector (take it out and put it back in the CPU). The connectors have a latch, so be sure to press down on it as you pull it out.

If that doesn't work, try pushing all the wires up into the connector while it is still attached to the CPU.

Connectors are always the first thing to look to when things suddenly stop working like that, though it could be other things, too.

If the above doesn't work, take the cover off the CPU and inspect the PCB trace (the green line on the circuit board) where it connects to the paddlewheel connector. Does it appear to have any rust or corrosion, or is possibly being pushed up off the board?

HTH!

Are you saying that PP in speed mode does not work, or purely that the speedometer does not indicate? I am assuming you have a split gauge, with the LCD screen across the bottom and the analog tach above it. If so, there's a good chance the gauge failed. But if operation in a speed mode does not work then it could very well just need a new paddlewheel.
