Wind Screen

So the topic about almost losing a seat cushion got me thinking about adding a windscreen to my boat. Also the better half freezes early in the season. I have searched the boards and can't find anything about this. Has anyone done it? I have a 99 vlx, if that affects the width. Any ideas?

Does your boat have the U shaped channels in the walk-through?

If not, it's an easy add-on.

You can find alum. "U" channel in most hardware stores. You just need to mock-up a cardboard template of the shape of the screen. Lemme see if I can find a particular thread about this. Gimme a min.

I'd guess from the dealer. Not sure when they started offering it, what hulls, etc.

Here is a thread I started with some photos to give you an idea:

And here is a photo of what I made for my last boat. Rails and dam were made from half inch plastic. Didn't look as good, but did the job:

I believe the stock one is Lexan. Which I found out last summer you can buy at places like http://www.tapplastics.com.

And the surprising thing is that you can cut it with a jig saw & a standard wood blade. Then you can sand or file the edges to clean them up.

Another option would be to have a Sunbrella bow cover made at a local upholstery shop.

On my old Sunsetter I just had a snap in wind dam. Worked pretty good.

I made several windcreens from lexan but have never made the aluminum slide channel, does anyone have a pic of the aluminum piece on the boat I may put that in before spring
