Dumb question probably but..

Pretty sure yes. But also what would be the next steps besides impeller and checking the transmission cooler screen to get water flowing?

Yes, it cools the exhaust. Otherwise your exhaust tubes would overheat.

I can't think of anything besides impellar and trans screen that would otherwise keep water from moving.

There should be an actual water pump. On my monsoon its above the raw water pump, basically on level with the intake manifold.

Do you have a shut off valve on your fresh water intake?

Air leak in the fresh water intake line/sea strainer?

Obstruction in the fresh water intake screen?

How are you testing? With a fake a lake?

If you are using a fake-a-lake, make sure it's on tight with no gaps between the hull and rubber of fake-a-lake. When I first used mine, water was not being drawn into the engine. After repositioning it for a tighter fit, water shot out of the exhaust in under 10 seconds.

It is a fake a lake actually which I do always have problems with. Theres potential for air leaks seeing as I just had to remove all the hoses practically to get the new belt on
