Sea Strainer mounting

can a sherwood strainer be mounted upside down or sideways? I am installing it on a Malibu sportser and space is limited. thanks

Raw water intake strainer in my Sporty.

Because it's below the water line I also installed a raw water intake shut-off valve.

It fits. It sits vertical. It works great. It is, however, a little tight.

It will work in any position. Think of it like an oil filter I have seen and changed them in a horizontal and incline position.

I used a Groco strainer because that's what my local West Marine had in stock.

i did search my old email but didn't find the conversation with a sherwood rep. who said any orientation will do as long as it's serviceable.
