Thanks Peter - Smooth Water Man..!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say thanks to Peter @ Smooth Water Sports for hooking me hp with an awesome adapter plate so I an upgrade to a Fulton F2 jack on my Boatmate trailer. Simple little piece of metal - but one of those "one small step for man, one giant leap..." things.

Not the first time Peter helped me out. Summer (even more speciically - the Friday before 4th of July weekend) 2003 at my lake house in Maine. I had a brand-new ~ 15 hours RLXi with an LS1. Had a whole bunch of people coming-up to ski/hang/party for the 4th. I'm out on the lake, heard a noise - opened the engine - - Serpentine belt is SHREDDED. I have to limp it back...Find a neighbor...get it on the trailer (yeah, I know...I'm mechanically inept and can't change a belt by myself in the water). My neighbor suggests I use his beach to haul out the boat (he uses it for his I/O) rather than limp 4 miles down the lake to the ramp. Well, bad idea as I picked-up a rock and mangled my prop in the process.

I get the boat to the dealer (called Panther Run Marina - there was a satellite Malibu outpost there at the time). They can't help me....late in the day Friday, no props, they don't have the serpentine belt.....I asked them to take a prop off a showroom LXi...no (I guess I understand, but I would have done it for a customer).

I pull the boat to NAPA...Kid behind the counter jumps in the boat, takes the old serpentine belt...finds the NAPA equivalent...and installs the belt for me.

I remember seeing PETER/SMOOTH WATER all over the Malibu forum at the time in 2003 (M.B.O. - Malibu Boat Owners or something). I call him up...(what have I got to lose, right?). PETER FEDEX's me a new ACME prop - late in the day - told me he had to drive it to FEDEX for early AM Saturday delivery....I had the new prop on by 10A......4th of July saved by PETER/SWS and NAPA......

There are some awesome people/dealers in the towboat world....Peter is one of the guys who's made this his life, not his job......Peter if you are ever in Orlando and want a pull!!!!

Ditto!

I just hope that Malibu appreciates their great dealers like Peter and Paul, no wait, Bakes is no longer a dealer!

There are a lot of good Malibu dealers and a few great ones out there. Let's remember to appreciate them and help drive business their way whenever possible!
