Rehabing the Chrome Gauge Bezel

Guys I just pulled the chrome bezels off of my dash yesterday because they were just pitted beyond looking even remotely decent. I took it to a couple of chrome shops and got quotes around 200$. I'd rather go a different route and paint the thing. Painting was never my specialty though and I want to try to do black with yellow in the indentations of it (will post pic up tomorrow). I have no idea what kind of paints to use, or how well it will look. Anyone have any advice or experience in this sort of area?

Are you wanting to keep them looking "chrome", or are you just wanting to pick some other color.

I have a local powder coater that does parts very cheap and he just got a new powder that looks really close to an aluminum color. Might be with looking into. I know powder coating is much cheaper than chroming and also can last longer.

Genius. I don't know why I didn't think of it before. Do you know what its called/have a pic of the color?

I think he just called it chrome colored powder.

The valve cover a few pics down looks exactly like the sample he had.
