Skyski rack ffor illusion x

I just bought the Comtech rack for my tower, but they say to drill the 2 pilot holes in the tower all the way through. The weight of the board and foil are to much for one screw. The bracket has 3 holes. Has anybody done this? And is there another way? I have 07 vlx illusion x tower.

I drilled the holes all the way through on my Illuision X. I did not want to, but I could not think of a better way. You can get rubber plugs to cover the holes when you sell.

Thats the only way I've ever heard of it being done. And considering that it needs to be done some of the bigger board racks too, it seems like the safest way.

Maybe you can design some kind of wrap around clamp for it instead?

Does your board swing into the boat or hit the rail with the seat?

If your seat hits the gunnels, you could flip your rack around so the front of the board is swinging into the boat instead.

Mine was set up with the front of the board swinging into the boat. All clearances were good. (2004 23 LSV)

Which side of the boat to put it on deserves consideration. Initially, I put mine on the driver's side. That much weight hanging outside of the tower was enough to wash out my wake on the port side. A little extra weight under the long seat on the port side took care of that problem. Then I discovered that if I turn to starboard (like you are supposed to) when I pick up a downed rider, the rope got way too cozy with my T bar and wings. The passenger side is the best place if you only have one foil rack.
