hi guys

i tried wakesurfing for the first time this past weekend and want to know how to load it properly.

this is how the boat was loaded,

center tank full,

surfside full and

non surfside empty.

a 320lb sack in the surfside hatch

a 320lb sack on the surfside observer seat.

and had 2 people in the boat

what do you guys think about this setup? not enough weight?

any help would be appreciated, nic

Not enough wieght. Do you have the bow tank? Put at least a 750, if not more in the rear locker. Put a 400 tube sack under the seats, and 1 if not both of the other bags you have on the surf side seats /or floor. You will need wieght in the bow with that setup also. Stock bow tank is enough. To much wieght in the front flattens the wave, but with the setup I suggested you need some to have a "fun" wave. Too many times I see guys try to load the crap out of just the rear corner and all you get with that recipe is a big ol' steep , short wave. Those are not fun. A nice long, moderately steep wave is what you are looking for, and even wieghting ,with a bias towards the rear corner is better. I know there are varying opinions on wedge usage, but after running several tests, I use it. It adds push from my expierience. Push= speed on the board to stay with the boat. VTX can build a kick a** wave for a small boat. All you need is the right recipe.

Great post. I'm looking for a VTX so this information will come in handy in a few month (hopefully ice is gone soon). I have been told that a little weight is better than too much but if what Bawshogg is saying is true I may have been misled.

Too much wieght does sometimes get you diminishing retruns, especially like I stated. Too much wieght in one corner is definetly not the route to go. You have to get the hull to list to get the wave, the more hull in the water, the better the wave. When you have spent as many hours I have testing and tweaking and seeing what works the best you eventually get a good feel for it. Sometimes the way a wave looks doesn't always designate the rideabilty or fun factor. Ask any of the avid surfers on this board if just a little wieght will get you a "good" wave. I think you will find a similar recipe to what I suggested.

You should have jumped on mine!! You will have a hard time finder a cleaner used VTX out there.

I run a 750 in the rear lockers and then use the human ballast to tune the wake as required. Bawshoggs surf wake is pretty nice, but there are a lot of people who get nervous with that much weight on the surf side. We have filled the second 750 and had it sitting propped up on the observers seat area.

For sure!! It just moved way too quick. There are some other decent ones out there, I'll find one before the ice is gone.

Good Luck! I hope you find what you are after. Check with Wizard Lake after the boat show next weekend. Should be a few more trade ins.

Love the post ...............Help placing my weight, speed and wedge position is greatly appreciated!

This is what I'm working with;

4-stock tanks

1-750 (surf side/not quite full)

2-400?? (X-2 sacs) 1 in the bow/surf side.....1 on the floor or on surf side seat

Power wedge

OJ Fusion prop

Speed- all over the place 9.4 - 12.0

Wedge also all over the place.........

I love surfing!!! Taught myself, don't have anyone to learn from. Would love a couple diferent suggestions on peoples set-ups. I can go ropeless for quite awhile. Seems i'm alot closer to the boat than what i see in other peoples posts (Gotta work pretty hard just to stay in the pocket). Tried alot of different combo's as far as set-ups (weight, wedge, speed). I'm going to check my speed against GPS once the boats out of storage.

Any suggestions or feedback is greatly appreciated
